Mission Sunday Offering for September

September 24 is the fourth Sunday and that means it is Mission Sunday where we give our loose change to support a local charity. This month’s offering will go to Bridging, a nonprofit organization primarily serving the Twin Cities, provides donated furniture and household goods to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. Please give generously!

Paper Grocery Bags Needed

Do you have paper grocery bags taking up space in your kitchen? Open Hands Midway, a food shelf in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul is in need of paper grocery bags. Please consider donating between now and October 15 by bringing them to church and dropping them off in the donation bin.

Midweek Bible Study

Join us for Midweek Bible Study on Zoom Wednesdays at 7PM. You can join us online by using this link.

Worship Leaders Needed

We are looking for people to serve as worship leaders/liturgist. The liturgist assists the pastor in leading worship. They lead congregational participation such as the Call to Worship and the Opening Prayer. They open the Communion and Offering time with an invitation and close it with a prayer. If you are interested in volunteering to serve once a month, please talk to Pastor Dennis or Lisa Smith Winn. Click here to download the job description.

Midweek Vespers Service

Starting in October, we will have a monthly prayer service on Wednesday evenings here at the church. Every third Wednesday we will gather for fellowship and prayer. More information to come, but October 18 on your calendar!

Reconciliation Offering on October 1

For more than 40 years, Disciples have had a visible ministry to address racism in society. Gifts to Reconciliation Ministry, through its Offering or throughout the year, support programs and initiatives aimed at dismantling racism. Our special offering will be taken on October 1, 2023. We will have a special loose change offering to donate to the Reconciliation Offering or you can give online.

Congregational Reading

During October, we will take part in a  congregational reading of a book When Church Stops Working by Andrew Root.  Some of his writings are the inspiration for the series Be Still and Know. Purchase the book and be ready to talk about it in a gathering after worship November 12.
